Reflections on the Holy Scripture

There are no rituals or "magic words" involved in becoming a Christian. Accepting Jesus as your Savior is a personal heart matter. There is no wrong way of going about it. One way to easily accept Jesus as your Savior is to follow these three steps:

  • Admit you are a sinner,
  • Believe that Jesus has paid the price of our sins, and
  • Commit yourself to Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

That's all there is to it! Once you have committed yourself to Jesus Christ, He has forgiven you, and you are saved!

After you are saved, you are forgiven for all past sins, all present sins, and all future sins. Accepting Jesus into your heart grants you eternal life with Him, saving yourself from forever in Hell, the ultimate punishment.

Admit

This part of salvation comes from the fact that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Such are the words of Romans 3:23 in the Christian Bible:

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

NKJV

Having sinned, we are separated from God and are essentially in line for Hell and eternal death. This is indicated by Romans 6:23a.

23 For the wages of sin is death…

NKJV

However, God gave us a hope to escape this impending doom. Our first step then is to admit that we have indeed sinned against God which establishes our need for a Savior.

Believe

God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us of our sin. About two thousand years ago, Jesus came to earth as both fully human and fully God, and He lived a perfectly sinless life. Then for our sakes, Jesus allowed Himself to be executed and suffer for us in Hell. Since Jesus never sinned, He never had to die, but because He loved us so much and He wants us to be with Him in Heaven, He sacrificed His life to literally pay our price for sinning.

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

~ John 3:16 NKJV

If you believe with all your heart that Jesus is the only way to Heaven, and that He died for your sins, then you will have everlasting life in Heaven as God promises in John 3:16. Although Jesus may have died, He was not dead forever. His power over death was so great that three days after His execution He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven with the Father after remaining on Earth a short time. Today, Jesus is alive!

Commit

Main Page: Now What?

With Jesus as our Savior, the best way we can thank or serve Him is by committing our lives to Him. Jesus not only wants you accept Him, but He also wants for you to know Him more. Continuously pray, read the Bible, and live a life Jesus would want you to live. Love God as He loves you.
