Many Christians have varying sets of beliefs. As such, describing someone solely as being "Christian" can leave a lot of unanswered questions about their views. A system of different Christian denominations has therefore been created in order to better demonstrate the minute differences between groups and to let Christians of similar beliefs convene at their respective churches. A denomination is simply a sub-group of Christianity that more specifically defines peoples' beliefs.
