Reflections on the Holy Scripture

Although many claim otherwise, there is much evidence for a young universe. Biblically, the genealogies add up to 6,000 to 7,000 years. However, this is not commonly accepted by unbelievers. But there is also tremendous scientific evidence for a young earth.

Space Expansion:
Their is a constant expansion in space with orbits. According to several years of data, the moon moves around three inches away from the earth each year due to the eclipse-like nature of its orbit in shape. It is a known fact that the moon is 238,900 miles (384,400 km) away from the earth. So, according to the distance moved away each year, for every year you go back, the moon would be closer to the earth by three inches. So, if you went back 20,000,000,000- 40,000,000,000 years in time, the moon would practically be touching the earth, making it nearly impossible for living things to survive.

Planet Cooling:
The heat of Mars and Jupiter cool off every year. If you went back billions of years, they would be entirely cooled off by now. The heat could not last that long.

Saturn's Rings:
Saturn's rings slowly expand each year due to Saturn's orbit. In order for the rings to still be intact, they could not be billions of years old.

Flaws of Radiometric Dating:
The chief argument of those who claim an old earth is the science of radiometric dating. However, this science is new and very inaccurate. Recently, the age of the grand canyon (using radiometric dating) was found to have changed from what once was considered 20 to 70 million years old was now found to be only 5 to 6 million years old.
