Guidelines

In an attempt to keep this website as clean and safe as possible, these guidelines have been placed. They are meant to keep the site consistent and friendly. Please take time to review these general rules and follow them diligently.

Ethics

There are three guidelines for contributing to the site or forum.

  • No Harassment — We strive to keep our site a comforting, calm environment where people can feel at ease. Any harassment, including flaming, insulting, or other malevolent behavior will not be tolerated here in the general content or forums. This rule will result in immediate action when violated, and it is the most important thing to keep in mind.
  • Be Professional — This includes keeping pages organized, using language that others can easily understand, and being calm and polite while interacting with the community. Failure to abide with this rule will not result in immediate consequences, but if we have to continually warn you and fix your mistakes, consequences may occur.
  • Strive for excellence — Put effort into every post, page, and action on the site and in life. If you work hard to get what you want, it feels that much better when you are finished, and looks that much better to readers everywhere.

The Forum

The forums are meant to be an informal conversation area where you can chat with other people, ask questions, seek advice, and discuss. When posting on the forums, we only ask that you follow the ethics guidelines. Style or writing format is not as important.

Editing Guidelines

This is a list of editing guidelines meant to keep style and format throughout the site consistent and nice looking. Although these guidelines are not law or set in stone, we ask that you follow these conventions unless you have a good reason not to.

  • Capitalize all headings and titles properly as would look on a book
  • Paragraphs should be about one subject and be about four to eight sentences long
  • Use proper English grammar through out any content, using correct punctuation, spelling, etc.
  • No slang, abbreviations (unless there is a reason), text language, or cuss language
  • Provide links to other pages when applicable
  • When research was done, cite all sources used, ideally at the bottom of the page
  • Cite source of an image, if applicable

If you want to add text styles or special div formatting techniques, please read on the wiki syntax that Life's Handbook uses.

There are also special formatting codes for including things such as Bible quotes and imaging. We encourage you to read on these special formatting codes and to use them when contributing so that the content of Life's Handbook can look consistent and polished. However, learning the codes is not required.

Here at Life's Handbook, we don't want people to be afraid to make edits post in fear of breaking rules. If you don't harass, we will gladly correct any mistakes and mishaps within reason. So get involved, and work to promote your relationship with God!
