Interestingly, these verses seem to say that the heart is a foundation. This seems intuitively true, but it is something you can only actually realize when you see the two words next to each other.

This is why the Scripture highlights guarding the heart so much. It is because there is no deeper place that the enemy can attack. If your heart is corrupted, then everything you do will be also.
